2009 tour to Southport

This year the choir chose the North West for its tour and it proved to be an excellent choice. The stop on the way to Southport was to Chester where the 100 strong party took the opportunity to wander down the ancient streets and to walk the walls of the city.
In Southport the committee had booked us into the Royal Clifton Hotel, an elegant Victorian building occupying a prime site on the sea front.
The Friday night's concert was in the theatre of Edge Hill University, Ormskirk where we met our host choir, Aughton MVC and it was lovely to hear them and to join in with them on stage. The Saturday night's concert was in Southport where our own soloists Ralph Barnes and Jeff Bourton were performing.
As is usual on our tours the week - end was much more than just the two concerts, and we all took the opportunity to visit Blackpool and Liverpool, and to enjoy a drink or two in the hotel bar, where we entertained the host choir to sandwiches and more singing
